Bike jousts at an art show

Two men performed a joust on Lime bikes using PVC pipes as part of a recent event. Artist Corbin Shaw staged this spectacle under the title Feast of Fools for the Frieze art fair in east London. The performance drew inspiration from historical festivals where lower classes could insult the wealthy.

Medieval styles in fashion and film

Major brands including Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Max Mara have featured medieval clothing items like wimples and chainmail on their catwalks. Troye Sivan appeared as a knight in the video for his latest song Party while Andrew Garfield leads cast members in a new film about the Peasants Revolt.

Experts explain the cultural trend

Simon Trafford from the University of London Institute of Historical Research notes that medieval elements remain available for borrowing by modern creators. Professor Marion Turner adds that current usage often focuses on joy and playfulness rather than strict historical accuracy.
