Joseph Spring 2027 collection draws inspiration from Christian Liaigre archives
Creative director Mario Arena launched the Joseph Spring 2027 Ready-to-Wear line based on an accidental discovery of interior designer Christian Liaigre books at his home.
Design inspiration from past projects
Arena found a book by Christian Liaigre while moving items in his residence. The interior designer previously converted an old chocolate warehouse in Australia during the early 2000s and designed Joseph Ettedgui's house in the 1980s. This collection reflects that masculine edge with feminine undertones found in Liaigre's work.
Garments feature specific prints
The range includes easygoing neutral basics punctuated with earthy green and pink accents. A clutch bag displays the brand's signature python print and references a love letter Queen Victoria wrote to Prince Albert. Flowing dresses with tight pleats recall the style of Halston.
Ancient fabric techniques used
Mud silk shirts were buried in mud for weeks before sun-fading sealed with yam juice. Arena learned this ancient technique during a trip to China. Organic bean-shaped gold and lapis jewelry also appears in the assortment.
