Career highlights and recent work

The poet signed to Epic Records in 1978 after performing with bands like Joy Division. His poem Evidently Chickentown appeared in The Sopranos and is now part of the GCSE English syllabus. A new collection called Have It is currently available for purchase.

Childhood memories and illness

Clarke was born in Salford in 1949 and lived above a chemist shop with his uncle Dennis. He contracted tuberculosis during his youth but recovered after stopping coughing up arterial blood. He stopped attending school once he had regained enough energy to read.

Current tour schedule

The author is touring the United Kingdom with shows running until November 27. He recently shared a photo of himself dressed as a cowboy taken in his Salford apartment.
