Player forms cancer awareness group

Tsang Sin-yan, who is 33 years old, lost her mother to ovarian cancer in 2017. She spent five nights a week playing rugby before founding the Phenomenally Group two years later. The organization focuses on proactive healthcare and providing accessible early screening services for the community.

Athletic lifestyle did not prevent illness

The 33-year-old athlete was diagnosed with lymphoma despite maintaining a rigorous training schedule. She notes that being fit and active does not guarantee immunity from cancer. Her experience highlights the need for regular health checks regardless of physical condition.

Team provided support during loss

Chandiramani described her rugby team as a second family that helped her cope with grief. Many teammates attended her mother's funeral, showing the strong bonds formed on the pitch. The group now aims to extend this sense of community through better healthcare access.
