Hong Kong designer Kinyan Lam launches slow fashion brand focusing on Dong artisans
Hong Kong designer Kinyan Lam has launched his autumn/winter 2026 collection which prioritizes natural materials and embroidery from China's Dong ethnic minority group.
Designer returns to Hong Kong
Lam studied at the Hong Kong Design Institute before earning a master's degree at the London College of Fashion between 2019 and 2020. He returned to his alma mater to teach and developed a passion for textiles and natural dyeing during that time.
Studio founded in 2021
In 2021, Lam established Genau Studio to offer garment-dyeing services and workshops focused on natural dyes. His childhood growing up in a small village in Guangdong province influenced his love for nature.
New collection sets vision
The autumn/winter 2026 collection named Grounded aims to deepen the brand's roots through slower growth. Lam states that slowing down is the only way forward for his eponymous brand.
