Hikers begin Glyndŵr’s Way trail near Knighton with dog companion
A group of hikers started the 135-mile Glyndŵr's Way trail in Knighton while traveling with a terrier named Stevie.

Route starts off the official path
The walkers made a detour to find accommodation that accepts dogs at the Castle Inn. This location is one mile from the actual trailhead and two miles from Knighton. The group is now positioned near a railway viaduct before reaching the main route.
Medieval castle ruins nearby
Towers of a distant castle are visible above the trees along the journey. Builders removed stone from these medieval ruins in the 1860s to construct the viaduct. The structure now includes crenelated towers that honour the origins of the stone used.
Legend of the missing prince
The trail commemorates Owain Glyndŵr, the last Welsh prince who disappeared after his rebellion in 1400. Some historical accounts suggest English adversaries believed he possessed supernatural powers during his lifetime. No confirmed sighting of the figure has occurred since a vision reported around 1819.
