Ferran Adriá becomes subject of new Catalan TV drama about his career
A six-part television drama recounting the life of chef Ferran Adriá and his time at El Bulli will screen on Catalan television later this year.
Drama recounts early career rise
The series follows Adriá from his arrival in 1983 as a kitchen hand with no prior experience in haute cuisine. He quickly advanced to head chef after working initially as a dishwasher and during military service.
Production recreates original dishes
The show features the recreation of 70 dishes from the original menu of 1,846 produced at the restaurant. Scenes include the preparation of a tortilla de patatas made with crisps.
Funding and release details
The project was partly funded by the Catalan government and includes a worldwide release scheduled for later in the year. Adriá stated that journalists referred to his style as molecular cuisine while he preferred the term techno-emotional.
