Hybrid business model sustains operations

The venue opened alongside other commercial cinemas to screen international films that did not reach the mainstream circuit. Director Didi Wu explained that selling out blockbuster tickets elsewhere allowed audiences to discover independent posters and purchase art house tickets next time. This strategy helped convert mainstream cinema-goers into regular visitors for niche releases over the years.

Streaming era shifts audience habits

While many cinemas worldwide have closed recently, this theatre continues to thrive despite changing viewer preferences. The shift in audience behavior appears to play directly to the strengths of its curated film selection. Independent classics and fresh local voices now draw crowds that previously relied on traditional distributors for access.
