Alice Diop to curate Miu Miu Art Basel Paris show in October
French filmmaker Alice Diop will curate and present her first exhibition for Miu Miu at the 2026 Art Basel Paris fair in October.
Exhibition theme and location
The project titled Geste de Consolation will take place at the Palais d'Iéna. This venue currently hosts France's Economic, Social and Environmental Council as well as Miu Miu runway shows. The display is described as a celebratory chorus of Black creativity that combines film, photography, sculpture, poetry, dance, music, and performance.
Featured artists and works
Diop will showcase her own short film Fragments for Venus alongside selected pieces by other creators. The curated selection includes South African photographer Zanele Muholi, Gee's Bend quilter Mary Lee Bendolph, and sculptor Simone Leigh. Additional contributors listed include composer Angel Bat Dawid and the all-woman jazz trio Sistazz of the Nitt.
