Alcaraz exits tournament early

Seven-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz lost in the third round of the Shanghai Masters. The second-seeded Spaniard was beaten 7-5 7-6 (7-4) by unseeded Belgian Zizou Bergs. This result eliminated Alcaraz from the ATP Masters 1000 event.

Bergs wins biggest career match

Zizou Bergs recorded his most significant victory of his career against a top player. The 27-year-old broke Alcaraz's serve three times during the two-hour contest. Bergs recovered from failing to serve out the first set at 6-5.

Zverev takes top ranking spot

Alexander Zverev is now guaranteed to finish the 2026 season as world number one. He becomes the first German to end a year holding the top ATP ranking. Current world number one Jannik Sinner is ruled out for the rest of the year due to a knee injury.
