Original venue plans changed

The Atlanta Dream originally intended to host these matches at Gateway Center Arena, which holds 3,500 fans. The team requested a larger space because six regular-season games and all three playoff contests were already played at State Farm Arena.

Scheduling conflicts required adjustments

A concert by singer Sombr was booked for October 22, preventing the use of the arena on that date. Additionally, the Hawks had a home opener scheduled for October 24, forcing the league to shift both Finals games earlier in the day.

Stakeholders supported the switch

Hawks CEO Steve Koonin stated that ownership wanted to make the move happen to benefit basketball in Atlanta. WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert noted that the change expands seating capacity and allows more fans from the Southeast region to attend.
