Travis Head defends squad against former players criticism ahead of South Africa Test
Australia opener Travis Head responded to former cricketers criticizing the current team on Wednesday in Durban before Friday's first Test against South Africa.
Head addresses past player comments
Travis Head told a press conference that previous players unfairly judge the current squad. He stated that some former players need work and therefore criticize the team, which he considers acceptable. The comments came after Matthew Hayden accused selectors of promoting mediocrity regarding Nic Maddinson's recall.
Team faces batting challenges
Australia will start their tour against South Africa with concerns about batting averages dropping worldwide. Head noted the group is strong enough to handle difficult situations despite external feedback. The side must restore order with their bowlers while managing these ongoing headaches.
