Pidcock wanted to stop the race

The British rider said he felt mad after seeing his team-mates knocked off their bikes with six laps remaining. He stated that two riders were on the floor while others rode in front of him for safety. Pidcock finished second overall but was left upset by the incident involving the police convoy.

Injuries and race outcome details

Thomas Gloag required stitches on his knee and could not continue, while Marcel Camprubi rode on despite a smashed bike. Spain's Camprubi finished last after the collision but remained uninjured enough to complete the event. The race was ultimately won by Belgium's Jarno Widar in a sprint finish.

Context of recent safety concerns

This incident occurred one month after Welsh rider Finlay Tarling died from a collision with a rogue van during the Volta a Portugal. Pidcock dedicated his recent world title win to Tarling and his family following that tragic accident. Organisers have not yet released official comments regarding the police vehicle's actions on the course.
