Rays take 3-2 lead in ALCS after Rasmussen seven-inning start
The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Cleveland Guardians 3-1 on Sunday to take a 3-2 series lead in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series.
Rasmussen dominates Cleveland lineup
Drew Rasmussen allowed one run over seven innings while striking out six batters. He gave up four hits and walked one batter during the outing. Rays manager Kevin Cash noted that Rasmussen found rhythm with his fastball and changeup.
Tampa Bay offense applies pressure
The Rays applied offensive pressure using their elite contact ability, speed, and willingness to bunt. Designated hitter Yandy Diaz recorded three hits in the victory. The team played clean defense at points described as outstanding by observers.
Series moves to Tropicana Field
Tampa Bay will host Game 6 on Monday at Tropicana Field in St Petersburg, Florida. A win there would give the Rays two chances to advance to the World Series. The Guardians must avoid falling behind again after losing Game 3 earlier this week.
