Pakistan name Farhan as T20 captain and Shaheen for ODI tri-series

The Pakistan Cricket Board announced squads for upcoming home matches against Sri Lanka and England with Sahibzada Farhan leading the T20 side and Shaheen Shah Afridi retaining the ODI captaincy.

T20 squad selection details

Sahibzada Farhan will lead the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka starting on October 9 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The 15-member squad includes players such as Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, and wicketkeeper Khawaja Nafay. Salman Ali Agha has been omitted from this specific format but remains in the ODI lineup.

ODI tri-series arrangements

Shaheen Shah Afridi will continue to captain the 16-player squad for the seven-match ODI tournament involving England and Sri Lanka. The first three matches of this series are scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi before moving to Lahore. Babar Azam is included in the ODI team while Farhan does not feature in that format.

Squad composition notes

The T20 roster features uncapped all-rounders Razaullah and Mohammad Imran Randhawa alongside experienced campaigners like Naseem Shah. Maaz Sadaqat has retained his place after a strong performance during the recent Asian Games campaign. Abdul Samad returns to the side after his last appearance in March 2025.
