Oosthuizen ends four-year LIV tenure

Louis Oosthuizen confirmed Wednesday that he will leave the LIV Golf League after four years. The South African golfer previously served as captain of the Southern Guards GC team since June 2022. He stated it was time to move on following the financial restructuring of the rebel circuit.

Player cites schedule flexibility concerns

Oosthuizen expressed fear that the proposed new schedule would be too difficult to manage for his career longevity. He believes controlling his own calendar is essential for maintaining competitive sharpness in the coming years. The golfer noted he has several more years of good golf left in him.

Return planned for 2027 season

The former Open Championship winner will officially rejoin the DP World Tour starting in 2027. This move follows a bankruptcy filing by LIV Golf that allowed the league to reject certain player contracts. Oosthuizen plans to play at the Link Hong Kong Open this week after a two-month injury lay-off.
