LeBron James responds to Donald Trump criticism over national anthem behavior
Donald Trump accused LeBron James of disrespecting the US national anthem before an NBA game on October 20, prompting a response from the star on Thursday.
Trump shares video of player actions
President Donald Trump posted a video on Truth Social showing LeBron James practicing golf swings and taking jump shots during the anthem. The President described these actions as disrespectful to the country and demanded an apology from the basketball star. Trump specifically called for apologies to military personnel who died serving their nation.
James issues public retort
LeBron James responded to the accusations on Thursday by calling it a slow news day in the office. He made these comments after the Philadelphia Sixers completed an epic comeback victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The game took place at Madison Square Garden before the season opener against the New York Knicks.
History of public disagreements
The two men have traded public criticism for years regarding sports and politics. James previously stated that no single person should use sports to divide people, while Trump has criticized players who kneel during the anthem. Their feud continues as they address these recent events.
