Lando Norris calls for Franco Colapinto race ban after Azerbaijan GP crash

Norris demands strict action

The world champion told BBC Radio 5 Live that Colapinto should be banned after causing an accident during a restart. Norris stated that drivers who cause crashes on restarts deserve at least a one-race ban because they cost money and damage parts for others.

Colapinto apologises for error

Franco Colapinto admitted the incident was a big mistake after he locked up his brakes and slid into Pierre Gasly. The Argentine driver said he was out of control when he hit team-mate Gasly, which subsequently led to Lando Norris being taken out.

Other drivers oppose ban

George Russell and Max Verstappen argued that a ban would be too harsh for such an incident. Russell noted that safety car restarts with cold tyres mean small mistakes can have big consequences.
