Lawyer confirms departure plans

Rahm's attorney John Beck stated during a Wednesday hearing that the golfer has independently reviewed the new proposal and decided against participating. Representatives for both sides are currently working to finalize a separation agreement by mid-October. The lawyer added that advanced discussions for a consensual split are ongoing between the parties.

League faces funding challenges

LIV Golf filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in September after Saudi Arabia withdrew its multibillion-dollar funding support. The league has secured possible financing from BC Partners Credit to attempt moving forward with the 2027 season. Rahm was considered a linchpin for the circuit as it tries to emerge from federal bankruptcy without that specific backing.

Separation agreement timeline

The parties hope to present a final separation agreement before a court hearing scheduled for November 5. Rahm is not obligated to sign on to the new LIV 2.0 terms regardless of his previous contract status. His departure deals a significant blow to the breakaway tour's hopes of retaining its most accomplished players.
