Johan Manzambi scores winner for Aston Villa at Newcastle
Aston Villa midfielder Johan Manzambi scored the only goal to secure a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at St James' Park on Saturday, 17 October 2026.
Midfielder returns to haunt former club
Manzambi had previously agreed to join Newcastle in the summer before moving to Aston Villa instead. The midfielder nodded home his first-half effort during Saturday Night Football at St James' Park. This goal marked manager Unai Emery's 100th Premier League victory.
Newcastle set clean sheet record
Newcastle United failed to keep a clean sheet for the 16th successive game in all competitions. Sven Botman avoided a red card after a foul on Nicolas Jackson despite a VAR review.
