Following the backlash regarding potential health hazards, Wietrzyk decided to hand back all points earned from winning the event. She confirmed that she has learned lessons about knowing when it is right to step away from racing.

The 23-year-old world record holder said she will take time to recover, reflect, and look after her family away from the noise. She noted that there is more to life than racing and intends to carry these lessons forward.
