Engine rule breaches confirmed

Hamilton and Leclerc both take ten-place demotions for using a fifth internal combustion engine this season. Verstappen starts from the back of the grid after fitting three different fresh engine components. George Russell also drops five places for exceeding his engine limit.

Championship standings affected

The penalties boost Mercedes hopes of winning the Constructors Championship if they outscore rivals by three points. Verstappen, Hamilton and Leclerc remain in a tight fight for second place with only sixteen points separating them. Four races are left in the season.

Weather forecast issued

Rain is forecast for Sunday at the Interlagos circuit. Drivers may face wet conditions during the race on Saturday 7 November 2026.
