Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge won the Melbourne Marathon on Sunday and set a new course record time.

Kipchoge finishes in record time
The 41-year-old athlete crossed the finish line in two hours nine minutes and ten seconds. This performance beat the previous best time by two seconds. He slowed near the end to wave to supporters inside the stadium.
Other top finishers placed well
Thomas Do Canto took second place with a time of 2:10:35. Reece Edwards finished third in 2:15:57 while Camille French won the women's race.
Race route included iconic landmarks
Participants ran along St Kilda Road and past Flinders Street Station during the event. The course looped around Albert Park Lake before finishing at the MCG.
