China women’s basketball team wins bronze at Asian Games thanks to Zhang Ziyu
Nineteen-year-old Chinese player Zhang Ziyu helped her team win bronze in the women's basketball third-place match at the Asian Games in Nagoya on Saturday.
Tall teenager dominates third-place match
Zhang Ziyu scored 14 points as China defeated Chinese Taipei 77-64. The 19-year-old stands at 2.2 metres, which is taller than NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal. Her coach predicted the teenager will one day be invincible.
Opponents praise Zhang's abilities
Philippines head coach Javier Alvarez Garcia called her amazing and tipped her to become the world's best player. Mongolia's Amari Robinson noted that her height alone is obviously another opponent. Zhang said she wants to contribute for the team and work hard.
