Canelo Alvarez wins WBC title back from Mbilli in Riyadh

Fight outcome and scores

Alvarez defeated the undefeated challenger by unanimous verdict after controlling the later rounds. Judges awarded him scorecards of 117-110, 116-111 and 115-112 across the twelve rounds. The Mexican boxer landed significantly more power punches than his opponent throughout the contest.

Context of the return

This bout marked Alvarez first appearance in the ring since losing to Terence Crawford in September 2025. He returned after recovering from elbow surgery and a year away from professional competition. The event proceeded despite regional security concerns involving intercepted missiles and drone activity near the venue.
