Austin Smotherman wins Bermuda Championship play-off against Seamus Power
Austin Smotherman defeated Seamus Power in a Monday play-off to win the weather-delayed Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course.
Weather forced tournament delay
Strong winds on Sunday caused organizers to postpone play and cancel the scheduled final round. Officials decided to proceed with a sudden-death play-off between the two players tied at 16 under par after more poor weather forecast for Monday.
Playoff holes determine winner
Both competitors made par on the first two extra holes at the par-three 16th before the hole location was changed. Power missed a long putt and failed to get up and down from the rough on the next hole, allowing Smotherman to secure victory with a two-putt par.
Smotherman claims second title
The American golfer added this win to his earlier Bank of Utah Championship title won earlier in October. This marks Smotherman's second consecutive PGA Tour victory after the weather-hit event concluded on Monday.
