Abrar Ahmed reaches number one in ICC T20I bowling rankings
Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has taken the top spot in the ICC Men's T20I bowling rankings on September 24.
Rashid Khan loses number one spot
The Pakistan bowler moved ahead of Afghanistan's Rashid Khan after the Afghan spinner dropped a rating point. Abrar now holds the summit with a tally of 736 points while Rashid sits behind him.
Abrar joins elite group of leaders
He becomes the fifth Pakistani bowler to lead the list after Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Imad Wasim and Shahid Afridi. The 28-year-old also ranks second in the ODI bowling standings with 39 points separating him from Rashid.
Recent form drives ranking rise
Abrar took 15 wickets in nine T20Is for his country this year, including six against Australia. He stated that reaching the top position fulfills a long-held ambition of representing Pakistan at the highest level.
