New chemical analysis of fossils

Researchers examined specific chemicals preserved within fossilised dinosaur teeth to calculate internal body heat. This method allowed them to bypass previous difficulties in measuring the exact core temperature of an extinct creature. The study confirms that the iconic predator was not a sluggish, cold-blooded animal as once believed.

Comparison with modern biology

The findings indicate the dinosaur's temperature was nearly identical to that of humans today. Earlier scientific theories suggested dinosaurs were cold-blooded, but later research challenged this view by proposing older species controlled their heat. Most scientists now agree Tyrannosaurus rex was warm-blooded, though pinning down the precise number remains difficult.
