Teams build rockets from scratch

About 20 teams travelled to the event to design and build their own rockets. Participants perform verification and analysis on their designs before attempting launch. Some competitors manufacture specific parts at their home universities while others work with sponsors.

Launches reach several kilometres high

The competition involves launching rocket designs several kilometres into the air. University of Queensland student Thomas Molesworth noted that real-world testing differs from simulations. Teams aim to apply technical skills gained through this practical experience.

Organisers hope for future growth

Event director Jennifer He stated that the competition helps students develop organisational and interpersonal skills alongside technical abilities. Organisers are hoping the Australian Universities Rocket Competition continues to grow in size and reach.
