SpaceX wins NASA contract for three additional crew flights to ISS
NASA awarded SpaceX a modified contract for three new missions to transport astronauts to the International Space Station.
Contract value and scope
The agency granted a modification worth $946 million under its Commercial Crew Transportation Capability agreement. This sum covers ground operations, launch services, in-orbit activities, and recovery procedures for each flight. The award also includes cargo transport and lifeboat capabilities required upon arrival at the station.
Total mission count rises
This update brings the total number of missions awarded to SpaceX to 17 in all. NASA maintains continuous access to the orbiting laboratory using two separate private spaceflight companies. The current source modification does not rule out future contract changes for additional transportation services.
Current flight status
The Crew-12 mission remains docked to the space station while other flights prepare for departure. SpaceX Dragon spacecraft and Falcon 9 rockets carry up to four astronauts along with essential cargo. These vehicles continue their regular schedule of transporting people and supplies to the orbital outpost.
