Approved projects cover multiple sectors

Sindh Environment Secretary Faisal Ahmed Uqaili outlined the approved initiatives at a workshop in Karachi on Saturday. The finalized list includes wind power, biochar production from agricultural waste, and sustainable forestry efforts. These 13 projects have been forwarded to the Federal Ministry of Climate Change for further review.

Six additional projects seek investment

The province is preparing six more climate initiatives estimated to cost USD62.15 million. Priority areas include biogas initiatives across five districts and floating agriculture in lower Sindh. Officials also plan measures to reduce emissions from brick kilns and build capacity in climate finance.

Officials address climate risks

Secretary Uqaili stated the region faces mounting risks from extreme heat, floods, and water scarcity. The government aims to attract investment while strengthening its response to these environmental threats. Policy development and institutional reforms are part of the ongoing strategy to protect the environment.
