Early predictions on climate crisis

In the late 1990s, Hillman warned that future generations would question why adults failed to prevent global climate catastrophe. He also noted that public denial of the crisis would crack when people in the global north faced personal effects like flooding homes.

Proposed solutions for environment

The author suggested energy audits for buildings in 1984, a practice later adopted as EPCs across England and Wales. He also advocated raising road intersections to pavement level and establishing cycle lanes more than 40 years ago.

Focus on climate solutions

Increasingly, his work centered on the climate crisis with a 2004 book titled How We Can Save the Planet. His ideas once considered outlandish are now viewed as unremarkable by many.
