Hurun Research Institute released the 28th edition of the China Rich List on Tuesday showing ByteDance founder Zhang Yiming as the wealthiest person in the country.

The 43-year-old entrepreneur saw his fortune rise by 43 percent to reach US$99.7 billion. This amount sets a new record for the richest individual in China according to the latest data.
Artificial intelligence drives market growth
ByteDance expanded its operations into artificial intelligence sectors while other tech leaders also gained value. The list now includes 1,529 individuals with fortunes above US$750 million as of September 1.
New entrants join top rankings
Liang Wenfeng from DeepSeek appeared at number seven on the ranking for the first time. Chen Tianshi of Cambricon also broke into the top ten group this year.
