Amazon admits it lacks a plan to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040
Amazon chief sustainability officer Kara Hurst stated Tuesday at an Axios event that the company does not yet know how to eliminate its carbon emissions by 2040.

Kara Hurst told attendees she is not going to say the company knows all the ways it will achieve its target. She added that Amazon is still striving towards that goal while acknowledging the difficulty of the task ahead.
Amazon leads in clean energy purchases
Hurst pointed out that the firm has been one of the largest purchasers of clean energy for several years. The company currently holds a portfolio of 42 gigawatts in its renewable energy investments.
Amazon reduces pollution per dollar earned
The executive noted that Amazon has reduced its carbon intensity, which measures pollution generated per dollar of revenue. Hurst emphasized that tackling climate change requires both corporations and governments to work together on the issue.
