Senator releases and removes letter

The senator posted a confidential letter to his party leader on social media late Friday night before deleting it on Saturday. The document details claims of inappropriate behaviour towards women spanning from 2017 to 2025. Steele-John stated he removed the post because he did not want to appear as hiding from the accusations.

Allegations and party response

Seven current and former staff members signed the letter urging an independent investigation into the complaints. The senator has denied all claims made against him regarding his conduct in the presence of women. An internal inquiry by the WA Greens is expected to begin shortly.

Digital attendance deemed unacceptable

Steele-John considered joining Senate estimates virtually but was told this option would not be acceptable. He noted a growing chorus calling for his absence from the chamber next week. The senator said he will focus on seeing the independent investigation through to its conclusion.
