Trump proposes Camp David style presidential retreat at Florida golf club

White House confirms the plan

A White House official stated that the government asked to develop a sanctuary for future presidents at the Trump International Golf Course. The official noted that the United States government wants successors to hold important meetings and use the amenities of this world-class property.

Club offers to pay costs

The golf club plans to foot construction costs as a gift to Americans while providing free memberships for future presidents. Trump described the location as being only two minutes away from the airport where dignitaries could spend weekends like at a retreat.

Security history of the site

Reports highlight that security at this course is relevant because a gunman was convicted of trying to assassinate the candidate there in September 2024. The attorney for the golf course sent a letter offering to designate the property as a U.S. Presidential Golf Course.
