Trump administration asks Washington to hold ballots from suspected noncitizen voters
The Trump administration requested that Washington state officials set aside ballots from more than 400 people alleged to be noncitizens on Monday.

Justice Department identifies potential ineligible voters
Federal officials sent a letter to Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs asking them to pause voting for these individuals until eligibility is confirmed. The Justice Department stated it has found records showing 1,500 votes cast by the group in previous elections. Acting US Attorney Charles Neil Floyd noted that the current list likely represents only a fraction of the total number identified.
State election officials review the request
Steve Hobbs said his office is currently reviewing the data shared by the department which includes the last time each person voted. One individual on the list was recorded as voting in 1994 according to the information provided. Washington issues mail ballots to all registered voters and has more than five million eligible participants.
