Alleged denial of entry

Murphy stated that officials prevented him from visiting al-Udeid, the headquarters for US Central Command. He told reporters in Riyadh that this trip confirmed an effort to hide war costs from Congress. The senator believes the damage resulted from an attack by Iran on February 28.

Location of the site

The base sits in Qatar and serves as a hub for all US military activity in the Middle East. Murphy traveled to Doha before moving to Saudi Arabia while part of a congressional delegation. He argues the Pentagon blocked his access specifically to conceal the extent of the damage.
