PPP delegation invites opposition to join electoral reforms committee in Islamabad
A Pakistan Peoples Party delegation led by Senator Sherry Rehman met opposition leaders in Islamabad on Friday to invite them to a parliamentary committee on electoral reforms.
Invitation extended for joint work
The PPP delegation visited the chamber of Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas to discuss the proposal. Senator Sherry Rehman stated that the party wants an electoral system with the confidence of all political parties. She urged opposition groups to present their specific proposals to the committee.
Opposition seeks time for response
Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayin-e-Pakistan chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Senate Leader Raja Nasir Abbas asked for time to consult PTI leadership before answering. Sources indicate that opposition leaders have signaled willingness to join the committee after internal discussions. A formal response is expected within the next few days following these consultations.
