Pakistan raises petrol and diesel prices effective Friday
The Pakistani government increased petrol and high-speed diesel prices for sale on Friday, October 9, 2026.

New fuel rates take effect
Petrol now costs Rs398.96 per litre after a rise of Rs2.31. High-speed diesel is priced at Rs395.72 following an increase of Re0.78. These adjustments apply to all retail outlets across the country starting this Friday.
Reasons for price hike
Officials state that global market changes and shifts in Platts rates drove this decision. The Petroleum Division issued a notification confirming the new pricing mechanism remains active. Previous adjustments occurred on Wednesday before this latest revision took place.
Tax structure remains unchanged
The state continues to collect Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties for petrol. Diesel purchases are subject to a duty of Rs100 per litre under current rules. These levies sit alongside the base price adjustments announced by the federal authority.
