Pakistan government lowers petrol price while raising diesel cost effective Tuesday
The Pakistani government adjusted fuel prices on Monday, reducing petrol costs and increasing high-speed diesel rates for sales starting Tuesday, October 13.

Petrol and diesel price changes
The state reduced the retail price of petrol by Rs2.93 per litre to reach Rs395.37. At the same time, high-speed diesel prices rose by Re0.61 per litre to a total of Rs396.85. These adjustments follow previous daily revisions driven by fluctuations in international market rates.
Global oil market context
International crude prices climbed two percent on Monday as global tensions influenced trading levels. Brent futures reached their highest point since late September while US West Texas Intermediate also gained value. The government cited these external movements along with specific premiums and incidentals as reasons for the domestic price shift.
Related fiscal measures
Authorities continue to levy taxes of Rs114 per litre on petrol and Rs100 per litre on diesel. Earlier this month, the Prime Minister announced a relief scheme targeting motorcycles and smaller vehicles. Markets are also required to close by 9pm under current austerity protocols.
