Maulana Fazlur Rehman to mediate between government and PTI
Pakistan political leaders have approached JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to act as a mediator in Islamabad.

Government and opposition seek help
The PML-N-led ruling coalition and the PTI have agreed in principle to accept Maulana Fazlur Rehman as a mediator. Sources indicate that both sides approached the JUI-F chief over the past three days to resolve their differences. Senior opposition leaders visited his residence before National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq met him on Thursday.
Conditions set for mediation
Maulana Fazlur Rehman has stated he will first assess the seriousness of both parties regarding dispute resolution. He plans to consider their responses before formally entering the mediation process. The JUI-F chief also urged sides to acknowledge each other's positions and find common ground through political engagement.
Talks follow failed negotiations
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently spoke with Maulana Fazlur Rehman about reducing tensions between the Centre and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A meeting at the Prime Minister's House is expected to take place soon after the phone call. Previous talks held on October 3 failed due to disagreements over counterterrorism policy.
