Matt Gaetz faces sex trafficking lawsuit filed in Florida court
A civil lawsuit filed Thursday in Florida accuses former congressman Matt Gaetz of participating in the sex trafficking of two women.

Allegations detail coordinated recruitment and travel
The thirty-eight page complaint claims Gaetz and others organized payments, drugs, and travel to secure commercial sexual acts. The lawsuit states this activity occurred between 2017 and January 2019 involving recent high school graduates. Gaetz denied the accusations in a statement released to the Guardian.
Other defendants have prior convictions
Joel Micah Greenberg, identified as a close associate of Gaetz, pleaded guilty to sex trafficking charges in May 2021. He received an eleven year prison sentence for six federal offenses including identity theft and wire fraud. The current suit also names former state representative Chris Dorworth as an alleged participant.
Case filed in middle district court
The legal action was initiated in the US district court for the middle district of Florida on Thursday. Plaintiffs are listed as Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 to protect their identities during the process.
