Marco Rubio visits India to finalize trade deal and discuss Russian oil
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio travels to Mumbai and Jamnagar in India on Tuesday for a two-day diplomatic tour focused on trade and energy.

Trade negotiations near completion
Rubio is scheduled to meet Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and business leaders during the trip. Officials state that Washington and New Delhi are very close to finalizing a comprehensive trade agreement. A deal could potentially be signed before the secretary concludes his visit.
Russian oil sanctions waived
President Donald Trump delayed tariffs on US imports from India while the two nations seek to finalize their trade deal. The administration authorized a waiver for potential 100 percent tariffs that would have punished New Delhi for importing Russian crude oil. This decision follows legislation signed in September that targeted top importers of Russian energy.
Meeting with Ambani planned
The US diplomat will visit Jamnagar to meet Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries. The conglomerate operates the world's largest refining complex located in that western state port city. Rubio also intends to lay a wreath at the memorial site for the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
