Succession plan confirmed by company

The US$1 trillion conglomerate announced the leadership change on Friday. Warren Buffett will serve as chairman emeritus starting immediately after stepping down from the active chair position. His son Howard G. Buffett has been a board member since 1993 and now leads the organization.

Buffett retains director role

Warren Buffett will continue to serve as a director for the company after his tenure as chairman ends. Greg Abel remains the chief executive officer who took over at the start of the year. The 96-year-old investor has held the chairmanship since 1970 before transitioning to his new title.
