Government lowers petrol and diesel prices effective September 29
The federal government reduced petrol and high-speed diesel prices starting Monday, with new rates applying from September 29.
New fuel retail rates announced
Petrol will now sell for Rs389.03 per litre after a cut of Rs2.27. High-speed diesel prices drop to Rs404.97 following a reduction of Rs3.56 per litre. These changes follow a notification issued by the Petroleum Division on Monday.
Previous price adjustments noted
Diesel costs fell from Rs408.53 to the new rate while petrol moved from Rs391.30. The government previously cut diesel by Rs2.63 and petrol by Re0.84 on Friday.
Global market factors cited
Officials stated that global developments including changes in Platts rates drove the decision. Brent futures rose 1.6 percent to $106 a barrel during the session.
