Douglas DePodesta filed a federal lawsuit in Illinois accusing the Trump administration of pressuring him to investigate political opponents before forcing his resignation.

Lawsuit targets specific officials

The complaint names FBI director Kash Patel, Attorney General Todd Blanche, and US attorney Andrew Boutros. DePodesta alleges these officials engaged in misconduct to deflect scrutiny from a failed prosecution against six protesters. He claims the Department of Justice made intentionally false statements to a judge during the process.

Allegations regarding Operation Midway Blitz

The suit states that Boutros repeatedly pressured DePodesta to launch investigations into anti-ICE protesters during last year's crackdown. Prosecutors dropped charges against the remaining defendants after a grand jury was revealed to be tainted. The former agent describes the situation as an unprecedented disaster for his office.

Claims of forced resignation

DePodesta asserts he was wrongly blamed for the Department of Justice's missteps and unlawfully removed from his job. He told a local newspaper that he was forced to leave his position after the case unraveled.
