Federal cabinet ratifies Pakistan-Kuwait defence cooperation agreement
The federal cabinet in Islamabad ratified a defence pact between Pakistan and Kuwait on Wednesday.

Agreement scope and duration
The deal was originally signed on June 11, 2023, while Kuwait completed its ratification on July 19. Cooperation will cover military manufacturing, electronic communications systems, scientific research, and cultural activities. A joint military committee will oversee implementation of joint exercises and official visits for five years.
Emergency powers transfer
The cabinet also approved transferring specific powers from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to the provincial governor. This change allows the governor to handle day-to-day affairs during the declared emergency in the province. The KP governor must submit a monthly review report regarding the exercise of these delegated powers.
