Activists in Europe protest against large data centre projects this week
Activists across Europe are staging two days of protests against new data centres on Friday and Saturday in fifteen countries.

Protests target Microsoft site in Amsterdam
More than 100 activists gathered at a construction site for a new Microsoft data centre in the outskirts of Amsterdam. They climbed cranes and unfurled banners before police stood by while they remained on the grounds. The project is being built by Pure Data Centres despite a local ban that was put in place earlier this year.
Wider actions planned across the continent
Organisers expect demonstrations to take place in fifteen countries including Dublin, Warsaw, and Denmark over the next two days. Groups are calling for a moratorium on large-scale developments citing environmental and social costs. The campaign coordinator stated that communities on both sides of the Atlantic share concerns about the harms of these facilities.
