US President Donald Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday and praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his role in ending a conflict with India.
President highlights eight settled wars
Trump stated that he has helped settle eight wars since taking office. He claimed these conflicts included disputes between Pakistan and India, Thailand and Cambodia, as well as Armenia and Azerbaijan. The president said he achieved these settlements through his special relationships and the use of tariffs.
Pakistani leader credited for saving lives
The US leader noted that Prime Minister Sharif told him Trump was responsible for saving 30 million lives. Trump repeated this figure during his speech to the world leaders gathered in New York. He added that many of the countries involved had written letters thanking him for ending the fighting.
